Uranium9Volt

"Wild Seven" CD EP (Lookout!)

There are times when emo punk seems like the last goddamn music with a prayer of saving anyone's life and keeping all those mythological promises that rock allegedly made (most of which I've written about or alluded to). Uranium9Volt throws just about everything that makes rock worthwhile into these 6 songs - longing, bitterness, regret, hope with a set of blinders on. These are songs which, under the right circumstances, would make anyone shed a tear or two. They contain gorgeous, lilting melodies, blended with grinding, powerful chords and deceptively simple fretwork which evokes memories of bands like New Order in its plaintive musical qualities and groups like No Knife and Fugazi in its cathartic swoon. Utterly righteous.
