I can deal with genius and I can deal with abject failure, but this album's sheer mediocrity is intolerable as Mr. Johnson feebly attempts to create something between Nick Cave and Toad the Wet Sprocket with an edge. It's albums like this which make me wonder if our government isn't subsidizing such artists in an attempt to deplete the budget by the end of the fiscal year. (ALEX)
